All: Open our hearts that you may transform our lives with your healing touch. One: We gather to worship God who alone speaks the word that calls forth life. All: Open our minds that you may transform us with your authoritative Word. One: We gather to worship God in spirit and in truth. All: Open our spirits that you may transform us by your powerful Spirit. *Hymn “We Come, O Christ, to You” No. 110 *Prayer of Invocation We come before you this day asking for your peace to descend, to calm our hearts, to draw us away from the distractions of the world, to aid us in returning to you in this time. But God, you are beyond our control. It is not up to us to dictate the terms of your presence. If it is your will to distract us, we will try to be ready. If it is your will to alarm us with the urgency of the good news, we deserve it. It is you who determine the terms of our time together. Fill us with your Spirit so that whether we are meant to speak or to listen, to give or to receive, to rise or to rest, we will be ready in all circumstances to serve you for who you are, and not what we would rather imagine you to be. This we pray in your name. Amen. *Greet One Another Something for the Child in Each of Us Linda Brown Responsive Reading: Psalm 111 Pew Bible p.490 *Gloria Patri Pastoral Prayer & the Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
